The AAEP Virtual CE Summer Series is a new educational opportunity developed by program chair Dr. Sherry Johnson and members of the AAEP Educational Programs Committee in response to COVID-19 and the need to postpone traditional, in-person meetings. We're bringing together equine veterinarians and specialists to share their collaboration techniques and experiences in a way that you'll be able to instantly apply in your own practice.
This is so much more than your standard webinar series! Once you register for the Summer Series, you have access to not only the twice-weekly live presentations, but also supplemental resources such as scientific papers, video clips, and discussion forums.

We really think you'll get the best experience if you can attend the sessions live (5-7 p.m. ET, Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout August). Attending live gives you a chance to interact with the presenters and your fellow attendees. That said, it's perfectly okay for you to view sessions on-demand, after they've been recorded and posted to the Summer Series site. And it's also okay for you to attend some of the sessions live, and others on demand.
It's not mandatory, although Thursdays' sessions will build upon Tuesdays', so ideally you're watching the sessions sequentially.
There's no rush. You'll have access to the site for several months following the close of the live sessions. However, if you complete all sessions within two weeks of the final session (September 10, 2020), you will earn your CE credit without needing to take quizzes!
By attending all sessions (any combination of live or on-demand) you will earn 16 RACE-approved Medical credits. Attendance at live sessions will earn credit if you answer the attention checks (think of Netflix's "Are you still watching?" prompts). Attendance at on-demand sessions is logged by the platform (no attention checks). If you complete all sessions before September 10, 2020, you will earn your CE credit without needing to take quizzes. For on-demand sessions after September 10, you'll need to answer simple quiz questions to earn the credit and your CE certificate, per RACE accreditation requirements.
No, sorry, we aren't offering single-credit or single-session opportunities. Although each session stands alone, the second session of each week builds on the first session. Likewise, although each week's sessions stand alone, all four weeks' sessions are integrated.
Along with really exciting content from our speakers, we'll be pushing out all sorts of related resources. Check the site often to see more resources. Use the "What's New?" and "Handouts" menu items to see related resources.

There's a cool little "system checker" tool in the menu bar that you should run before attending the first live session. The live sessions employ Zoom technology. There are a few countries that restrict Zoom. You can find the most current list here: https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/203806119-Will-Zoom-work-internationally-
Just like at a face-to-face conference, we expect you to behave! AAEP has zero tolerance for any form of discrimination or harassment, either in person or on-line. Online harrassment includes spam, cyberbullying, and disruptive or repetitive posts in discussion forums, chats, polls and question-and-answer sections of the Summer Series platform. If you experience harassment or witness any incidents of unacceptable behavior, the AAEP asks that you inform Lori Rawls, AAEP’s director of finance and operations, at lrawls@aaep.org so that appropriate action can be taken.
You can pose questions to our presenters by using the Discussion forums found on the menu bar. Be sure to indicate in your subject line the week you're referencing in your question.

For technology and other questions, feel free to contact Karen Pautz, AAEP's director of education, at kpautz@aaep.org
