Ric F. Redden DVM

Owner/Manager, International Equine Podiatry

R.F. (Ric) Redden, D.V.M., is a rare individual who is a 6 decade farrier, veterinarian, lifelong horseman and mentor to inspiring podiatrist. Dr. Redden graduated from the Ohio State University (Columbus, Ohio) College of Veterinary Medicine in 1974 with distinguished honors in Equine Medicine and Surgery and developed an international lameness practice that was focused on lower leg and foot injury or disease. Seeing a great need for an exclusive podiatry clinic, Redden designed and built the International Equine Podiatry Center (IEPC) in Versailles, KY in the early 80s. The solo practice was then dedicated specifically to treating developmental problems in foals, career and life threatening foot issues. Redden soon felt a great need to bring current concepts, techniques and knowledge gained in this fledging field to farriers and veterinarians worldwide. Teamed up with his wife Nancy they organized and hosted 20 annual Bluegrass Laminitis Symposiums. This meeting answered the call as it inspired professionals worldwide to start working together as a team with a relentless thirst for knowledge and a progressive thought process. He was inducted into the International Equine Veterinarians Hall of Fame in 1998 and named a “Farrier Industry Legend” by the American Farrier’s Journal in 2000. With 46 years of professional service, Redden continues to accept a few challenging cases, provides an international consulting service and continues to share his knowledge and expertise through in-depth courses.
